About :
We got to test an Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX532 - arguably one of the thinnest and most stylish gaming laptops out there. It is distinguished by innovative features, such as a system that reduces heat generation when placed on the knees, and the possibility of changing the RGB lighting of each key on the keyboard.
Display:
The screen offered on this computer is a 144 Hz screen with a response time of 3 ms, and "validated by Pantone". Now, Asus calibrates all screens on these computers at the factory for much better color rendering.
It is also compatible with Nvidia G-Sync - which makes it possible to match the number of frames per second delivered by the graphics card with the refresh rate of the screen and thus avoid any graphic aberration such as artifacts and other effects of shear during movements.
Other Features:
With 16 GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7-9750H 6C / 12T clocked at 2.60 GHz (4.50 GHz in Turbo Boost) and its Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card we expected a quick start, smooth multitasking, and games that spin without flinching. And we must say that we were rather served. For the part of the game, we launched Rise of The Tomb Raider, Forza Horizon 4, Halo 5 Forge and Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice.
Asus has thought about pre-installing a suite of software that allows you to personalize the entire user experience, push performance to the limit, or even stream like a Twitch star. We particularly appreciate the presence of a companion application (iOS and Android) that allows you to change settings on your computer without interrupting your gaming session.
Battery life: According to Asus, the Zephyrus S and its 76 MAh battery gives it a range of up to 8 hours
The cooling system manages to dissipate enough heat to avoid any effect of clamping performance - while protecting your thighs with an innovative flexible panel on the bottom.
The color of the keyboard keys is individually customizable which will appeal to both gamers and professional video editors. We can blame him for his low autonomy - but that's not really why we choose such a machine.
Connectivity:
This computer offers a particularly varied connection. On the right edge, we have a USB type C port (USB 3.2 Gen 2 with power delivery in and out and Display Port), and two USB type-A ports (USB 3.2 Gen 1), as well as a home port anti-theft security system.

7. Dell XPS 15: Best UltraBook For Adobe Premiere Pro

- Weight 3.9 pounds
About :
If you are concerned about weight and battery life and have money, you will find that DELL XPS 15 is the best choice for editing videos with Adobe Premiere. In fact, there are several models with different specifications, but it is especially recommended to stick to the specifications listed here.
Display:
The dell XPS 15 choice will actually have a 4k screen and an FHD screen (as designed, they are the same). It can fit on the FHD screen unless extreme color resolution and accuracy are important (even for 4k video editing).
Admittedly, the 4k model has the highest color accuracy and widest gamut among Windows laptops but has the disadvantage that battery life is shorter and much more expensive (MacBook Pro range).
Because it is a high-end laptop, it is completely made of aluminum. It is slim and (relatively) lightweight, but has all the ports (and excellent keyboard and trackpad) needed for editing and a suitable cooling system.
Even if the current Dell XPS 15 FHD is at a high price, you can still get last year's version with a 960M GPU and achieve almost the same performance as Adobe Premiere.
Performance:
With the exception of graphics cards with GTX960M, I met a video editor using a model of exactly the same specifications.
The 1050GTX shown here is new, but it has almost (slightly better) performance than the GTX 960M, and the more GB OF VRAM is installed (the more vRAM, the faster the rendering/export time), which is also limited to 16 GB OF RAM that could be upgraded to 32 GB.
Most importantly, the fastest storage device (NVMe PCIe-based SSD) is today. A 1 TB hard drive that stores all repositories and all other unused files for editing with Adobe Premiere is not included, but 512 GB is enough for most of these files. Alternatively, you can install a 1TB hard drive.
Other Features:
The standard backlit keyboard illuminates the keys, so you can stay productive in dark rooms as you type.
Precise touchpad prevents slider jumps and floating, and stops accidental activation prevention unnecessary clicks when the palm touches the touchpad.
Connectivity:
Killer 1535 Wireless Power Adapter is specially designed to make video, voice and online games faster and smoother, providing a stable and reliable Wi-Fi connection. Automatically detect, classify, and prioritize network traffic to ensure that the most important data takes precedence over other less urgent applications. Killer delivers critical packages quickly and eliminates unnecessary delays and delays.
It has a single cable connection for power supply, Ethernet, audio, and video. Add an optional Dell Thunderbolt Dock to speed up data transfer and support up to three full HD displays or two 4k displays.
- Excellent performance on the Core i7
- Beautiful OLED screen with accurate colors
- Webcam placement fixed
- Convenient port selection
- Excellent keyboard and touchpad
- None
How to Choose The Best Laptops For Adobe Premiere in 2024 | Ultimate Buyer’s Guide
Here are the main components found in a laptop and which are important parameters to take into account when choosing your laptop.
What do encoding, rendering, transcoding and exporting mean?
In simple words:
- Render = apply changes/effects to your video after editing for previews
- Encode= apply a format/codec AVI MP4
- Exporting = encoding + rendering, your final product
- Transcode= change formats
encoding/exporting are used interchangeably in other sites to mean outputting a file.
The Processor (CPU):
The processor is the basis of a mounting PC. The number of cores and the processor speed determine how quickly you can perform editing tasks.
If your laptop does not have a powerful processor, it will be slow, regardless of any other component. Modern editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas and Final Cut Pro take advantage of the many processor cores and hyperthreading.
It is therefore essential to invest in a computer dedicated to video editing to have a high-performance processor.
I generally recommend taking a computer with a Core i7-8750H (six cores) as the processor but if your budget is tight, you can fall back on a core i5-8300H (four cores).
The Graphics Card (GPU):
It may seem paradoxical, but the graphics card (aka the video card) is a component a little less important in terms of video editing and creative work done with most software.
Compared to the processor, it is generally acceptable to save some money and settle for a decent card, nothing more.
The exception to this rule is if you plan to edit with Resolve, you absolutely need a powerful graphics card since this software is powered mainly by a graphics processor, not a processor.
By itself, it is not even absolutely necessary to have a dedicated graphics card to use most editing software. However, modern video editing software takes advantage of graphics cards through hardware acceleration for encoding and rendering.
Having a moderately powerful graphics card will, therefore, make all the difference. Rendering will be faster if you invest in a high-end graphics card, so the graphics card is a kind of bonus, useful but not mandatory.
For an entry-level video editing GPU, I recommend the GTX 1050 or GTX 1050 Ti.
At 4K or higher, a 6GB GTX 1060 is a good choice. If you have the budget, go to the high end: GTX 1070, 1080 or the RTX 2060, 2070 and 2080.
Workstation Card
Surprisingly, in video editing, game cards are more powerful and much cheaper. The main advantage of workstation cards such as NVIDIA Quadro/AMD FirePro is that it provides better support and drivers, and is essential for 10-bit displays.
Storage (HDD or SSD?):
When it comes to data storage, you have two options: Solid State Drive (SSD) or conventional hard drive (HDD). Both of these options work, but SSDs offer many other advantages over HDDs.
summary, solid-state drives offer much better performance than hard drives once you get into complex editing timelines that involve playing multiple clips simultaneously.
Again, your video editing PC absolutely doesn't need an SSD. A hard drive will be fine if you're just editing H.264 videos in 1080p.
That said, if you can afford it, buy a laptop with at least a small SSD (128 GB or more) to install your operating system and important software. You will see an overall performance gain for your computer, not only in video editing.
RAM:
Having enough RAM is essential in the world of video editing. If you edit a video in 1080p format, I recommend 8 GB and I'm talking about the bare minimum.
For 4k, go to 16 GB. In both cases, the more RAM you have, the better. Note however that its priority remains lower than that of a good processor and a good graphics card.
The more RAM your laptop has, the more it can handle processes simultaneously before the computer starts to get bogged down.
If you want to be working on a big project while having a ton of Chrome tabs open, you will need a good amount of RAM. Standard laptops will typically have 8 GB of RAM, while laptops optimal for video will have 16 or 32 GB.
It is also recommended to look for video editing laptops with expandable RAM memory in case you need to give them a boost.
Video editing is one of the few areas to make the most of large amounts of RAM; therefore invest as much as you want. 16 GB or more is not crazy amounts of RAM for video editing.
Display: Obviously, when you edit video, the screen is a key element. Make sure the laptop you choose has a screen that provides true color representation, enough brightness to be used in a bright location, high resolution for the most precise details, and a size suitable for your needs.
In the field of high-performance laptops in this segment, you will find many 15 "screens, but there are also 13". Your specific use case will determine the screen size that suits you, but I generally advise against anything that is not 15 or 17 ”.
Software :
Nowadays, most video editing software like Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Sony Vegas or Pinnacle is available for at least the two main operating systems - macOS and Windows.
However, depending on your video editing preferences and the software you want to use, some of them work with a specific operating system. If you are a fan of Final Cut Pro X, your only option is to choose a Macbook. But if you're comfortable with Adobe Premiere, you can use both Mac OS or Windows.
